I’m Colleen Valles
Hey there, I’m Colleen, an award-winning freelance writer who helps sustainability and corporate social responsibility professionals and their teams deliver their message, generate buzz and communicate change.
After working as a reporter covering environmental issues for the Associated Press, I parlayed my ability to write fast and get up-to-speed quickly on new topics into sustainability-focused industries such as land use, transit, water and environmental management. I provide presentations, speeches and ghostwritten content to executives and elected officials and write a variety of content for both government agencies and private companies.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with Honors from University of California, Santa Barbara (Go Gauchos!) and am a graduate of the Santa Clara County Leadership Academy.
My career combines the two things I’m passionate about: writing and making the world a better place.
I’m a storyteller who writes for individuals and organizations. That writing can take a variety of forms, but content creation is my superpower. Here is a sampling of a few of the things I do:
Executive communications: My experience writing for elected officials and executives makes me well-suited to this, including speeches and ghostwriting.
Blogging: I started the blog at one agency, and have done it for multiple organizations. I know what it takes to keep one going, and I can generate ideas as well as execute assignments.
Media relations: Having been on both sides of the media equation, I know what it takes to get journalists interested in a story. I can help you strategize your communications plan and execute the content.
Let’s connect, so we can discuss a package that fits your needs.
